The Club was founded in 1961 as the Ice & Blades Club of Washington, PA. Our first rink was outdoors, in Washington Park. We gave tests outdoors for all levels, in almost any weather. (Ever try to dance a sexy Blues at 10 degrees above zero?) (Club history contributed by Life Member Donna Mathay.)
Skating Club of Mt. Lebanon
About the Club
In 1978 we began sponsoring tests indoors, at the Mt.LebanonRecreationCenter. In December 1991 we moved to the Center and changed the club's name to the Skating Club of Mt. Lebanon.
We hosted the 1986 and 1999 South Atlantic Regional Championships, and the 1990 Eastern Sectional Championships. The Mt.Lebanon rink was the site of the compulsory figures portion of the 1983 National Championships. We have hosted the Mt. Lebanon Invitational Competition every spring since 1985.
The Skating Club of Mt. Lebanon was proud to announce that the 2004 Mt. Lebanon Invitational had been selected to be part of the 2004 Future Champions Series (FCS). This is a new and exciting program sponsored by the USFSA and the Association's Program Development Committee. The chair of the FCS is a SC of Mt. Lebanon home club member and national official with the USFSA, Ron Dei Cas, MD. We are very fortunate to have such a high ranking official with the USFSA representing the SC of Mt. Lebanon.
The club welcomes competitive and recreational skaters. Over the past years, our skaters have competed at the USFSA's regional, sectional and national championships, and at dozens of non-qualifying competitions. We also have an active test program and plenty of club ice time for members who just want to skate for fun and recreation.
